Call for Editor and Reviewer

Joining Green Discourse offers an opportunity to contribute to an emerging international academic community, support the development of high-quality scholarship, and gain valuable editorial and peer-review experience.

Our Editorial Board and reviewer team bring together scholars working across ecolinguistics, ecocriticism, environmental discourse, environmental communication, ecological stylistics, environmental humanities, and related interdisciplinary fields.

Green Discourse is committed to publishing original, relevant, methodologically sound, and ethically responsible research that advances understanding of the relationships among language, literature, discourse, culture, society, and the environment.

Who Are We Looking For?

We welcome applications from scholars who:

• Hold a PhD or equivalent research degree in an area relevant to the journal’s scope;
• Are active researchers with a demonstrable publication record;
• Have expertise in ecolinguistics, ecocriticism, environmental communication, environmental humanities, or related fields;
• Support the vision, academic integrity, and international development of the journal;
• Are willing to uphold high editorial and peer-review standards;
• Can provide fair, constructive, timely, and evidence-based evaluations of manuscripts.

We particularly welcome applications from scholars working in the following areas:

• Ecolinguistics and language ecology;
• Ecocriticism and literary environmental studies;
• Environmental discourse analysis;
• Environmental communication;
• Ecological stylistics and ecostylistics;
• Multimodal environmental discourse;
• Corpus-assisted ecolinguistics;
• Climate change discourse;
• Indigenous ecological knowledge;
• Postcolonial and decolonial ecocriticism;
• Ecofeminism;
• Blue humanities and oceanic studies;
• Biosemiotics and cognitive ecology;
• Environmental media, film, and digital humanities.

We strongly encourage applications from under-represented regions, particularly Latin America, Oceania, Europe, Africa, and North America.

What Would Be Expected of You? Editorial Board Members

Editorial Board members may be invited to the following:

• Assess whether submitted manuscripts are suitable for peer review;
• Recommend or select appropriate reviewers;
• Provide editorial advice within their areas of expertise;
• Evaluate reviewer reports and support editorial decisions when requested;
• Recommend themes, contributors, reviewers, or special issues;
• Promote the journal within relevant academic and professional networks;
• Support the journal’s commitment to publication ethics, academic quality, and international visibility.

The workload will remain flexible and considerate of members’ academic commitments. Editorial Board members would generally be expected to handle approximately one to two manuscripts per year, depending on expertise, availability, and the number of suitable submissions received.

Reviewers

Reviewers may be invited to:

• Evaluate manuscripts relevant to their expertise;
• Provide constructive, objective, and confidential feedback;
• Assess originality, methodological quality, theoretical contribution, clarity, and relevance;
• Declare any conflicts of interest;
• Complete reviews within the agreed timeframe.

Review invitations may be accepted or declined according to availability.

Nature of the Appointment

Appointments are based on academic qualifications, research expertise, publication record, disciplinary needs, geographical diversity, and the current composition of the journal team.

Membership does not require participation in compulsory routine meetings. Other contributions, including journal promotion, special-issue development, research collaboration, or advisory activities, may be discussed flexibly according to each member’s interest and availability.

Please note that meeting the stated criteria does not automatically guarantee an appointment. Applications will be evaluated in relation to the journal’s current editorial and disciplinary needs.
